The aviation industry was affected by the Covid-19 Pandemic to such degree, that airports from all over the world have lost millions of passengers, due to severe restrictions and cancellation of flights. The 30th edition of the Romanian Airports Association’s Conference and General Meeting was meant to find solutions, share strategies, but also to identify opportunities for cooperation with institutions of the field, for the accelerated recovery of the air traffic.

“The Pandemic of Covid-19 has affected the air transport severely, but we are expecting increased passenger traffic as soon as possible. Currently, the airports of Romania are representing 75% of the traffic registered in 2019, the year before the pandemic. Most likely, the passenger values from 2019 will be recovered by the year of 2024. During the first 4 months of 2022, Romanian airports have registered approximately 4,9 million passengers. Whereas in 2019, by May there were 6,5 million passengers. In the context of recovering the traffic, the airports have to undergo several procedures for funding infrastructural projects, but also, they have to create great collaboration between the institutions, which is essential for improving the services, security and safety at the airports.” – said David Ciceo, the President of the Romanian Airports Association and General Director of Cluj Avram Iancu International Airport.
