Between August 27-29, 2019, the meeting of the general managers of Romanian airports will take place in Constanța.
The event organized by the Romanian Airports Association (RAA) is attended by the general managers of the RAA member airports, representatives of the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of European Funds, the Romanian Civil Aviation Authority and Romatsa (Romanian Air Traffic Service Administration).
During the meeting, issues related to airport safety and security will be discussed and at the same time the provisions of the new Air Code will be discussed. Another important issue on the conference agenda is the need to attract European funds for the development of the airport sector. David Ciceo, President of the Romanian Airports Association and General Manager of Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport, spoke at the meeting about the development of airport infrastructure given the evolution of passenger traffic. Estimates show that in the next 15 years, passenger traffic in Romania will double. In the first half of 2019, 10,729,755 passengers were registered at the 17 airports in the country, 8% more than in the same period last year.
At the same time, David Ciceo stressed the importance of developing freight traffic at Romanian airports, which will significantly contribute to economic growth.
